Julian Nagelsmann discusses his managerial future

During his press conference today discussing his selection choices for the international break, Julian Nagelsmann also addressed his future as national team manager.

Nagelsmann was recently linked to a move to Borussia Dortmund but when he was asked about a new club and his future by Sky Germany, Nagelsmann said: “There is a high probability that I will sign before the European Championships if I have an offer that I am satisfied with. But right now I don’t have a piece of paper.” It’s normal to want to sort out your future.”

What this means is that Nagelsmann’s stock as a manager is unlikely to be effected if Germany have a poor home European Championship. The former Bayern Munich manager’s contract as head coach also expires after the competition meaning he would likely walk straight into his new club.

Heading into the summer, there are plenty of jobs available for the Bundestrainer with Bayern, Barcelona and Liverpool all actively looking for a new coach, whilst Bayer Leverkusen and Dortmund may also be on the search if Xabi Alonso leaves and if Edin Terzic is sacked.

This upcoming international break is Nagelsmann’s final chance to assess his potential options ahead of Euro 2024 in tough friendlies against France in Lyon and the Netherlands in Frankfurt.
