Bayern Munich show interest in Pierre-Emile Højbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur

As reported by Bild, Bayern Munich are showing interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.

The Danish international was discussed by the club’s transfer committee this week and has been identified as a target. Head coach Thomas Tuchel is still seeking a traditional number six after losing out on Declan Rice who looks set to join Arsenal.

Højbjerg was once on the books at Bayern playing for the second team under Mehmet Scholl. The now 27-year-old was also included in Jupp Heynckes triple winning squad in 2013 and under Pep Guardiola the midfielder won the DFB Cup as part of the final starting eleven in 2014.

The Dane then move to Southampton in 2016 for €16m before moving on to Spurs in 2020.

The player’s current contract with Spurs expires in 2025, which is why his agent is looking to offload his asset this summer. His agent, Pini Zahavi, is an old acquaintance of Bayern and has recently been labelled by Uli Hoeneß as a “greedy piranha” as the agent helped David Alaba and Robert Lewandowski away from Bavaria.

However, Zahavi may return the favour somewhat if he brings Højbjerg back to Bayern.
