Three players depart VfB Stuttgart

VfB Stuttgart have confirmed the departure of three players who all featured in the 2022/23 season.

The players leaving the club include Tanguy Coulibaly (22), Antonis Aidonis (22), and Tiago Tomás (20).

Coulibaly moved to Stuttgart in 2019 from the PSG academy and played 74 competitive matches for the Swabians. The winger stepped up at the tail-end of this season and scored crucial goals against Borussia Mönchengladbach and Mainz 05 which helped avoid automatic relegation.

Aidonis first arrived at VfB in 2018 playing for the U19s before making the step up to the first team. The Greek-German national struggled for playing time with the club and made most of his appearances for the U21a. The defender also had a loan spell with Dynamo Dresden in 2021/22 in the 2. Bundesliga.

Tomás will return to his parent club Sporting CP. Stuttgart had the opportunity to buy the forward for €15m but couldn’t afford the price tag. The Portuguese played 47 competitive games for Stuttgart, scoring eight and assisting on four occasions.
