Bayern Munich’s Joshua Zirkzee set to join Bologna

As reported by Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, Bayern Munich forward Joshua Zirkzee (21) is set to join Italian side Bologna for a reported €8.5m fee.

Bayern have also secured 50% sell-on clause and only the final details are left to be clarified before Zirkzee completes his move to the Serie A club – the Dutch youth international will sign a four-year contract until 2026 and the move could be finalised on Friday.

With the sale of Zirkzee, sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić will have brought €100m into the club through sales, the first time Bayern Munich have broken the €100m barrier.

It was only reported on Wednesday that talks between Bologna and Bayern Munich for Zirkzee were ongoing. Belgian duo Anderlecht and Club Brugge were also in discussions whilst Newcastle United, Stuttgart and Augsburg had also shown an interest.

Scoring 18 and creating 13 in 47 games across all competitions last season for Anderlecht, it looked as though at one point Zirkzee may remain at Bayern Munich and to get a chance.
