Julian Ryerson has started every game for Borussia Dortmund in 2026/27, but was replaced in the 66th minute of Norway’s UEFA Nations League defeat against Portugal after going down unchallenged. However, with the injury seemingly not serious, the 28-year-old was named in his nation’s starting line-up for their 2-1 loss against Wales on Thursday night.
Then, disaster struck. In the 16th minute, Ryerson sat down on the pitch and received treatment before being replaced. It’s not yet known the extent of the defender’s injury, but it could be another blow for Dortmund with Nico Schlotterbeck another defender who has picked up an injury during the extended international break.
