Speaking ahead of Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund, Max Eberl offered an update on Vincent Kompany, who has been discharged from hospital after being diagnosed with a meningeal irritation – an inflammation of the membrane surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
“We’re trying to leave him in peace, but of course you still ask a friend, someone who’s been through life with you, how he’s doing,” Eberl told Sky Germany.
When questioned about Kompany’s return date, Eberl declined to give a clear indication. “I think with this illness, it’s rather difficult to say whether it will take x days or x weeks,” he explained. “His recovery is progressing; he’s getting better every day.
“That’s the most important thing right now. We’re simply trying to get through this together without setting a specific timeframe.”
Speaking throughout the week, several Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga head coaches reflected on the relentless demands of the job after Kompany’s collapse.
