Bologna lead race to sign Bayern Munich’s Joshua Zirkzee

Bologna are favourites to sign Joshua Zirkzee (21) from Bayern Munich, according to Sport Bild

Anderlecht and Club Brugge are also in discussions with Zirkzee, but the Serie A club are currently leading the race to sign the Dutch youth international, who spent last season on loan in Belgium.

As reported last week, Newcastle United have also shown an interest in Zirkzee, whilst Stuttgart have identified the Dutchman as a replacement for Saša Kalajdžić should the Austrian leave for Wolves this summer. At the moment, Wolves have submitted an opening offer of €15m to sign Kalajdžić, €10m short of VfB’s valuation.

Augsburg have also made an enquiry about signing Zirkzee, but are unable to compete with the financial capability of other interested clubs. Should the 21-year-old leave Bayern Munich this summer, the Bundesliga champions would expect a fee of around €20m for the player, who has entered the final year of his contract.

During his time on loan at Anderlecht last season, Zirkzee scored 18 and created 13 in 47 games.
