Borussia Mönchengladbach in active talks for RB Leipzig’s Alexander Sørloth

Negotiations between Borussia Mönchengladbach and RB Leipzig for Alexander Sørloth (26) have intensified in the past few days, according to Sky Germany.

Leipzig are expecting a response from Gladbach in the coming days as to whether they want to loan the Norwegian forward with an option to buy. Fellow Bundesliga side FC Köln had shown an interest in signing Sørloth as a replacement for Anthony Modeste, but a move would be too expensive.

A loan with an option to buy in the double-digit million range is a possible option for Borussia Mönchengladbach and Sørloth. Die Fohlen want to strengthen their attack before the September 1 deadline.

Discussions to sign NK Osijek forward Dion Drena Beljo (20) have stalled whilst Marcus Thuram could yet leave Borussia Mönchengladbach will less than one-year remaining on his current deal.

Sørloth spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad, scoring eight and creating one in 44 games across all competitions, but has played just five minutes across five games for RB Leipzig this season.
