Bristol City have completed the loan signing of Schalke 04 goalkeeper Fabian Giefer, who will remain at the Championship club until the summer.
Ajax and Werder Bremen were also interested in signing the 26-year-old, who instead opted for a move to England.
“Fabian has come in to compete for the number one jersey. He’s certainly got a good pedigree, having played in the Bundesliga, and we hope he has a successful spell with us,” said manager Lee Johnson.
