Weston McKennie not a topic for Borussia Dortmund

Contrary to Italian reports, Juventus’ Weston McKennie is not a topic at Borussia Dortmund.

There had been a suggestion that negotiations between McKennie and BVB are at an advanced stage, but this doesn’t appear to be the case. Bild report that because McKennie played at Schalke, he was never considered a “hot topic” at Borussia Dortmund, which is unlikely to change in the future.

However, they further add that the American midfielder would be open to returning to England, having spent the last six months on loan at Leeds United.

During his six-month loan spell at Leeds, McKennie played 20 games across all competitions, creating one goal. With a contract at Juventus until 2025, the American’s future remains uncertain. Having joined the Old Lady in 2020 from Schalke, McKennie has scored 13 and created five in 96 games in all competitions for Juve.

One player that Borussia Dortmund did sign to offset the departure of Jude Bellingham was Wolfsburg’s Felix Nmecha (22). The Germany international joined BVB for €30m including bonuses, and will offer Edin Terzic a different dynamic in midfield alongside Emre Can and Julian Brandt.
