Official | Marvin Ducksch extends contract at Werder Bremen

Werder Bremen have announced that striker Marvin Ducksch has extended his contract at the club, putting to an end any speculation on his future.

The length of the extension is reportedly two years, meaning Ducksch will stay at Bremen until 2026 with his previous deal expiring next summer. On his extension at the club, the 29-year-old said: “I have always said that I feel very comfortable at Werder, both in the city and in the team. We have developed well with the team in the last two seasons. I would like to continue to be part of this development.”

Ducksch had attracted interest from Borussia Dortmund, and Union Berlin while also turning down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.

Clemens Fritz, Bremen’s head of professional football, also commented on Ducksch’s extension: “Marvin has played a big part in achieving our goals in the last two years. We are very pleased that we continue on our common path, especially since Marvin had further options after his successful Bundesliga season.”

Ducksch joined Bremen in 2021 for €4m from Hannover 96 and was key in helping Bremen earn promotion at the first time of asking in the 2.Bundesliga. In 29 games in the second division, Ducksch scored 20 and assisted 10, forming a formidable partnership with Niclas Füllkrug.

After a slow start to life in the Bundesliga last season, Ducksch went on to score 12 goals and assisted seven as he played every game as Bremen finished 13th in their first season back in the top flight.

Bremen’s attention will now turn towards Ducksch’s strike partner, Füllkrug who has also attracted interest from teams not only in Germany but abroad.
