Tottenham Hotspur favourites to land VfL Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven

According to Kicker, VfL Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven is in talks with Tottenham Hotspur who are now favourites to sign the player.

It’s been clear for some time now that the defender will leave Wolfsburg this summer. Previous reports suggested that the Dutch international could join Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool. However, Spurs are now chasing the 22-year-old. 

What’s more, as reported by our colleagues Get Belgian and Dutch Football News, van de Ven has agreed to personal terms with Spurs. 

However, it’s not as straightforward as it seems. Wolfsburg are yet to hear from Spurs in regards to purchasing van de Ven. Usually, a club would appear if contact with a player has been made. Wolves now that the Dutchman will be leaving this summer and have put a €40m price tag on the youngster. 

Last season, Van de Ven featured 36 times for the Wolves in all competitions where he was able to establish himself as one of the Bundesliga’s best young players. The 22-year-old also signed a new long-term deal at Wolfsburg until 2027 in March, which gives the German club leverage in the transfer market
