Kevin Schade withdraws from the Germany squad, Youssoufa Moukoko and Josha Vagnoman called-up

The DFB have confirmed that Brentford’s Kevin Schade has picked up a slight muscular injury and has therefore withdrawn from the Germany squad as to not jeopardise his chances of playing in the 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship later this month.

Schade (21) was due to leave the squad following the game against Ukraine on Monday to join up with the U21s. In place of Schade, Stuttgart’s Josha Vagnoman and Borussia Dortmund’s Youssoufa Moukoko have both been called up, but aren’t scheduled to play against Ukraine. Instead, both will train before leaving to join the U21 squad on Sunday.

Inter’s Robin Gosens and Manchester City’s Ilkay Gündogan, who are set to face each other in Champions League final, will both join up with the German national team following the conclusion of Saturday’s game. Both Thilo Kehrer, who won the UEFA Europa Conference League with West Ham, and Marc-André ter Stegen, who travelled to Japan with Barcelona, will both join up with the squad on Friday.

Germany will face Ukraine in Bremen on Monday before games against Poland and Colombia.
