Bayern Munich contact Yann Sommer representatives as possible alternative for Alexander Nübel

As reported by Sky Germany, Bayern Munich have contacted representatives of Yann Sommer as a possible Manuel Neuer replacement if they cannot reach an agreement with Monaco for Alexander Nübel.

Sommer’s contract at Borussia Mönchengladbach expires at the end of the season which means he can be bought in January for relatively cheap. The Switzerland international is also open to the idea of moving to Munich.

The 33-year-old has been undisputed number one for Gladbach since he joined from Basel in 2014 for €9m, during his time he has developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the league and has saved some of his best performances when against Bayern. In the meeting earlier on in the season between the two, Sommer made a league record 19 saves in the 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern are still in a search for a replacement for Neuer after he broke his leg during a skiing accident leaving him out until the end of the season.
