Manuel Neuer suffers broken leg during skiing tour

Manuel Neuer has broken his leg following a skiing accident on Friday, the goalkeeper announced on his official social media. The 36-year-old Bayern Munich captain will miss the remainder of the season following the incident.

It’s been a terrible couple of weeks for Neuer who went on a skiing holiday following Germany’s group-stage exit from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Neuer shared an image of himself in a full leg cast and wrote: “What can I say, the end of the year could definitely have gone better. While I was trying to clear my head while ski touring, I broke my lower leg.”

This is not only a huge blow for Neuer personally but also for Bayern who have been dealt a series of injuries since the build-up to the World Cup. The experienced goalkeeper has played 12 out of 15 Bundesliga games so far this season but will have to watch from the sidelines as his team look for another title.

Back-up goalkeeper Sven Ulreich will most likely be Neuer’s replacement with Alexander Nübel out on loan at Monaco.
