Niclas Füllkrug tipped for return to Germany squad

Niclas Füllkrug is expected to be announced as part of Germany’s squad for their upcoming Nations League games this month, according to reports in Kicker.

Since returning to Werder Bremen this summer, the forward has regained his form, which led to his inclusion in Germany’s 2022 World Cup team.

So far this season, Füllkrug has scored nine goals in eight Bundesliga matches and is the league’s top scorer as things stand.

Since leaving Bremen in 2023, the now 33-year-old has played for Borussia Dortmund, West Ham United, and AC Milan (on loan). However, during these spells, the German never quite managed to get regular playing time and show the talent he once showed for Bremen.

Now having moved back to familiar surroundings, Fullkrug is on course for his best goalscoring season since 2022/23 when he earned himself a move to Dortmund.

Germany play Serbia and the Netherlands on the 13th and 16th November, respectively.
