RB Leipzig hopeful of Dayot Upamecano contract extension

RB Leipzig sporting director Markus Krösche wants to extend the contract of 21-year-old defender Dayot Upamecano with heightened interest from Europe’s elite clubs.

“We are very happy with Upamecano. Our goal is of course very clear that we will not let any top performers move free of charge,” said Krösche, via Kicker.

Upamecano has one-year remaining on his current RB Leipzig contract, which includes a €60 million release clause.

RB Leipzig wish to extend their partnership with the Frenchman, rather than losing him on a free transfer in 2021.

Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Arsenal have all shown an interest.
