Stuttgart’s Dan-Axel Zagadou suffers another serious injury

Bundesliga side Stuttgart have confirmed that French defender Dan-Axel Zagadou suffered a double ligament tear in his ankle on Saturday during training and will be out for the foreseeable future.

Zagadou’s injury was caused following a collision with Tanguy Coulibaly. According to BILD, the Frenchman was treated on the training pitch for severe pain in his right ankle, which was later confirmed to be a double torn ligament. For now, the defender will remain in Marbella with the team.

It’s the latest of serious injuries that has plagued the French defender. During his time at Borussia Dortmund, Zagadou has suffered a wray of injuries from a bruised metatarsal, which resulted in the Frenchman missing nine games, a ruptured knee ligament (seven games), torn knee ligament (15 games) and knee surgery (23 games), according to Transfermarkt.

Per BILD’s report, Stuttgart remain open minded as to whether or not they will need to enter the transfer market for a replacement. Since joining the club on a free transfer on September 19 after his BVB contract expired, Zagadou has played six Bundesliga games for VfB.
