Hamburg target defensive signing in Hertha Berlin’s Márton Dárdai

As reported by BILD, 2. Bundesliga side Hamburg are targeting Hertha Berlin defender Márton Dárdai.

Dárdai is high on HSV’s list of January targets following the developments surrounding central-defender Mario Vušković (21), who is threatened with a long-term doping ban.

Vušković tested positive for the banned substance erythropoietin and following the positive sample, there was a raid on the HSV player’s locker with his laptop and phone confiscated. Following a positive test of sample B, the matter is being dealt with the DFB Sports Court and the Croatian faces a suspension between a reported two and four years, if his lawyers are unable to prove any possible mistakes.

As a result, Hamburg are targeting a defensive player in the form of Hertha defender Dárdai, who despite having 2.5 years remaining on his current deal, has played just 177 minutes of football this season. Dárdai can also operate at left-back, a further incentive given the imminent departure of Tim Leibold.
