Real Sociedad in negotiations to sign RB Leipzig’s André Silva

Champions League participants Real Sociedad are seeking the services of RB Leipzig’s André Silva.

According to Kicker, Silva – who has a contract until 2026 – could switch to Real Sociedad on loan with both clubs negotiating the possibility of a loan deal. However, the potential signing of the Portugal international comes with its own risk. During training after the final Bundesliga game, as Leipzig prepared for the DFB Pokal final, Silva tore his thigh muscle and it yet to partake in preparations for the 2023/24 season – the player isn’t expected to return before the end of the transfer window.

André Silva’s time in Germany

But with Champions League football, Kicker note that Real Sociedad must improve their squad, and Silva will inevitably bring goals. Playing for Eintracht Frankfurt between 2019 and 2021, Silva scored 45 goals in 71 games across all competitions for the Hessen club before a €23m move to Leipzig.

Although unable to eclipse his numbers at Frankfurt, Silva still managed 26 goals in 95 games. But with just four goals in 31 Bundesliga games last season, it’s likely that Leipzig and Silva will part ways this summer. Back in May, it was reported that Benfica were interested in signing Silva, who could potentially leave for €20m, and with interest high in Gonçalo Ramos, the Portuguese club could see Silva as a replacement.
