Konstantinos Mavropanos wants to leave VfB Stuttgart

Sky Germany reports that VfB Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos wants to leave the club this summer.

The 25-year-old is likely to cost close to €20m, with Napoli being one of the clubs interested as they look for a replacement for Bayern Munich’s new defender Kim Min-Jae. Mavropanos’ contract at Stuttgart does not expire until 2025, so the club can hold onto him for another summer if necessary.

Mavropanos would prefer a move to the Premier League and some clubs from England have also shown interest in the defender. A decision on Mavropanos’ future is expected to be made at some point this summer.

After initially spending two years on loan from Arsenal at Stuttgart, Mavropanos’ loan move was made permanent last summer for €3.2m and the 25-year-old has been a key part of Stuttgart’s defence during his time at the club. Last season, Mavropanos played 34 times as Stuttgart reached the DFB-Pokal semi-finals while also beating Hamburg 6-1 on aggregate in the relegation playoff where the 25-year-old scored in the first leg.
