Benfica interested in RB Leipzig stiker André Silva

According to Bild, Benfica are interested in RB Leipzig striker André Silva who is looking to leave the club in the summer.

Leipzig wants around €20m for the 27-year-old, but €15m would be a more realistic expectation. Benfica are the club that seems to show the most interest in Silva while any reported interest from city rivals Sporting is not true. Silva’s current contract at Leipzig expires in 2026 having joined from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021 for €23m.

Silva came through the academy at Benfica’s rival Porto. The striker played for Porto’s senior team between 2016-17 before joining AC Milan for €38m in 2017.

The 27-year-old has failed to deliver on the form that he promised since moving from Frankfurt. In his 95 games for Leipzig, Silva has scored 26 and assisted 17. The striker has often been overshadowed in the team by Christopher Nkunku and as of late Timo Werner who have delivered when called upon.

At the weekend, Silva played 69 minutes for Leipzig in their 3-1 win against Bayern Munich and was nonexistent for most of his time on the pitch which sums up his time at Leipzig.
