Bayern Munich today confirm the dismissal of head coach Julian Nagelsmann.
As reported by Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, the 35-year-old was blamed for negative sporting development in the Bundesliga as well as a lack of player development within his own squad. What’s more, Bayern bosses and some players were surprised to see Nagelsmann go on a skiing holiday during the international break whilst some players were still working.
Sport1’s Kerry Hau further adds that Bayern Munich had intended to finish the current season before making a decision on his future. But because Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur were interested in Thomas Tuchel, Bayern were forced into making a decision ahead of their crucial Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund and a Champions League tie against Manchester City.
Tuchel will succeed Nagelsmann and will undertake his first training session on Monday.
As this is a dismissal, Nagelsmann will also remain on Bayern Munich’s payroll until he finds a new club.
