Joshua Kimmich on Julian Nagelsmann: “He’s easily in my top 3 best coaches”

Speaking ahead of Germany’s friendly against Peru in Mainz on Saturday. Joshua Kimmich was asked about the situation surrounding Julian Nagelsmann and Bayern Munich.

When asked about the situation Kimmich said: “I absolutely understand that this is a hot topic at the moment. But there was no confirmation from the club, so I can’t and won’t say much about it” The 28-year-old then went on to praise his former manager: “I can only say that Julian Nagelsmann is an outstanding coach. He’s easily in my top 3 best coaches”

Some of the coaches Kimmich has played under are Pep Guardiola, Hansi Flick, Carlo Ancelotti, Julian Nagelsmann and Jupp Heynckes.

Former Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick was also asked about the story surrounding his successor: “Of course, we were very surprised by the headlines last night. But Bayern didn’t announce anything, so out of respect for Julian and FC Bayern, I don’t want to say anything about that”

There are currently 16 first-team Bayern players away on international duty and with Bayern likely to bring in Thomas Tuchel to replace Nagelsmann, the new coach will have very little time to get his ideas across to the team.

When they return from the international break Bayern have three key games in three different competitions. First, they play Borussia Dortmund in the league before playing Freiburg in the quarter-finals of the DFB Pokal and a week later they play Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals.
