The reasons behind Julian Nagelsmann’s dismissal

According to Florian Plettenberg, there were a number of reasons why Bayern Munich took the decision to dismiss head coach Julian Nagelsmann.

The 35-year-old was blamed for negative sporting development in the Bundesliga as well as a lack of player development within his own squad. What’s more, Bayern bosses and some players were surprised to see Nagelsmann go on a skiing holiday during the international break whilst some players were still working.

Internally, Nagelsmann was giving the wrong signals and therefore the club decided to act.

Reports also suggest that the 35-year-old was not sacked but dismissed by the club and will therefore remain on the payroll until he finds a new club.

Bayern had a difficult start to the season but have been in first place for the majority of the campaign. The club are still in the Champions League and face Manchester City in the quarter-finals.

Despite this, Bayern bosses believe now is the time to relieve the 35-year-old of his duties. Nagelsmann took charge of Bayern in 2021 and delivered the club’s 10th consecutive Bundesliga title.

Thomas Tuchel is the favourite to succeed Nagelsmann. If the former Chelsea coach signs during the international break, his first game will be against Borussia Dortmund on April 1st.
