“Lots of kids dream of playing here” – Jamal Musiala on playing at Old Trafford

Jamal Musiala spoke to media ahead of Bayern Munich’s Champions League clash against Manchester United on Tuesday evening, and the 20-year-old is relishing the opportunity of playing at Old Trafford.

“Lots of kids dream of playing here one day,” said Musiala. “I used to love watching the games when I was younger. I think the atmosphere will be terrific tomorrow. United have had a lot of ups and downs this season, but they’ll really be up for it tomorrow and they definitely have quality.”

Musiala made his return in Bayern’s 5-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday afternoon after recovering from a slight hamstring tear and although the German is unlikely to play 90 minutes, Thomas Tuchel did confirm that Musiala would feature at some point on Tuesday.

“Jamal can’t play for 90 minutes yet. He’ll either start or come off the bench. I haven’t decided yet,” said Tuchel.

Musiala did state that he feels ready to play, but after 19 minutes against Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayern will want to monitor the player’s fitness as they head into a crucial stage of the season.

Bayern Munich face difficult end to 2023

Already qualified for the Champions League knockout stages, Bayern have three difficult games against Manchester United, Stuttgart and Wolfsburg to see out 2023, with the Rekordmeister currently four points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, with Stuttgart just one point behind.

After Bayern’s 5-1 defeat against Eintracht, Tuchel wants to see a reaction against Manchester United and nothing less than a convincing win away from home will appease the Bayern faithful.
