Ivan Fresneda a candidate for Bayer Leverkusen

Ivan Fresneda has emerged as a candidate for Bayer Leverkusen as they look towards their summer transfer plans, reports Kicker

Leverkusen have kept an eye on Fresneda and are one of several Bundesliga clubs interested in the 18-year-old. Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg have both shown interest in the right-back, while Borussia Dortmund were linked heavily with Fresneda in the winter transfer window.

Fresneda would cost around €15.00m and Leverkusen will likely be able to afford as the departures of Moussa Diaby and Jeremie Frimpong look more likely. Both Diaby and Frimpong’s contracts expire in 2025 which means this summer is the last summer where Leverkusen are in a strong position when it comes to their most valuable assets.

Leverkusen also need a backup at right back as Timothy Fosu-Mensah has rarely featured due to long period of times out injured and falling out of favour under Xabi Alonso. The Dutch international goes into the final year of his contract in the summer meaning Leverkusen can also make some money off of the 25-year-old.
