Futures of Marco Reus and Mats Hummels at Borussia Dortmund become clearer

The future of both Marco Reus and Mats Hummels at Borussia Dortmund is now looking more clear as talks begin over a new contract for Reus, whilst Hummels favours an extension, reports Sport Bild.

Contract talks between Reus and Dortmund had originally stalled but talks have once again begun between the two. The length of the contract is the main issue as the 33-year-old would like to continue playing at the highest level for at least two more years.

For Dortmund, should Reus accept a reduction in his salary then an extension will be more likely. There could also be an option for Reus to have a role at the club once he has retired.

Hummels is also willing to sign a contract extension at Dortmund and is even willing to take a salary reduction to continue playing. The only issue is how much longer the 34-year-old wants to keep playing at the top level. Unlike Reus, the bosses at Dortmund are a lot more relaxed on the situation.
