Bundesliga Predictions | Round 10

In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich

My match of the week is Borussia Dortmund against Bayern Munich. We previewed this game earlier in-depth and that’s when I initially tipped a 2-2 draw. That in-depth preview was recorded before the Pokal match against Saarbrücken and obviously that game changes a few things. We now know that in addition of Joshua Kimmich being out, Matthijs de Ligt will also miss the game. Dayot Upamecano will likely feature but he is not fully fit. With that in mind, this is Dortmund’s game to lose and anything, but a win would be a big disappointment given the circumstances. But this is Dortmund, they have a history of mugging it up when in a good position and because of that I stick to my prediction made earlier in the week.

Manu’s Predictions:

  • Darmstadt 1-1 Bochum
  • Union Berlin 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Freiburg 1-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • Mainz 0-2 RB Leipzig
  • Köln 1-1 Augsburg
  • Hoffenheim 1-2 Bayer Leverkusen
  • Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Bayern Munich
  • Wolfsburg 2-1 Werder Bremen
  • Heidenheim 1-3 Stuttgart

Stefan’s Game of the Week: Hoffenheim vs Bayer Leverkusen

Although there’s little doubt that all eyes will be on the Westfalenstadion this weekend, it’s worth keeping tabs on what’s going on in Sinsheim too. Xabi Alonso’s team travel to a club that have already picked up some very impressive scalps this season, such as last weekend’s win over Stuttgart, so it should be another big test for Bayer Leverkusen. Add to that the fact that Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side tend to simply attempt to outscore their opponents and there’s little doubt that this should be an extremely entertaining game.

Stefan’s Predictions:

  • Darmstadt 0-0 Bochum
  • Union Berlin 0-2 Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Freiburg 2-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach
  • Mainz 0-2 RB Leipzig
  • Köln 0-1 Augsburg
  • Hoffenheim 1-2 Bayer Leverkusen
  • Borussia Dortmund 3-2 Bayern Munich
  • Wolfsburg 2-2 Werder Bremen
  • Heidenheim 0-2 Stuttgart

Scores after MD9: Manu – 73, Stefan – 74
