Bochum interested in loaning Union Berlin’s Benedict Hollerbach

Sport Bild reports that Bochum are interested in Union Berlin’s attacker Benedict Hollerbach as they prepare for the departure of Takuma Asano to the Asian Cup in the new year.

Bochum are looking at attackers who could fill in for Asano while he is away at the Asian Cup with Japan and Hollerbach is one of the options. The Revier side had shown an interest in Hollerbach in the summer but he chose to move to Union from Wehen Wiesbaden instead.

Initially, upon joining Union, Hollerbach had found it difficult to break into the starting 11 but since the sacking of Urs Fischer, new coach Nenad Bjelica has used the 22-year-old a lot more. Hollerbach even scored his first goal for Union in their only win since August against Borussia Mönchengladbach earlier in December.

A move to Bochum may guarantee more chances to break into the starting 11, but once Asano returns Hollerbach may be demoted to the bench once again whilst he may also want to take a chance to keep his spot in the Union starting 11 for now.
