Barcelona show interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram

Barcelona have shown an interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram, Bild cites Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo

The French international has long ruled out a contract extension at Gladbach and will most likely leave this summer on a free transfer. A winter move has been ruled out by both parties as they believe it’s in both of their interests to continue working together until the end of this season.

Thuram wants to compete for Bundesliga top goal scorer and him leaving as a free agent means he could get a better contract at his new club. Gladbach also believes that the Frenchman can help them qualify for the Europa League.

As per the report, Barcelona are interested in the 25-year-old forward and could see him fitting in well to their system. What’s more, a free transfer for a club that has struggled financially over the past few years makes the move even more attractive.

This season, Thuram has experienced a revival in his form, scoring 10 goals in the first half of the season, which puts him second his the goal-scoring chart joint with Niclas Füllkrug and two behind Christopher Nkunku. Last season, Thuram scored just three goals in 21 games.
