Aston Villa are ready to make a bid for Moussa Diaby

As reported via FT, Aston Villa are ready to make an official bid for Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a stellar season under Leverkusen’s relatively new head coach Xabi Alonso, and Die Werkself are not looking to sell their star man. With Diaby’s contract valid until 2025, Leverkusen are under no pressure to offload the Frenchman.

However, Diaby has garnered considerable speculation this summer with Aston Villa looking to place a potential €60m bid on the table. However, they would also face competition from several other Premier League sides who are keen to attract Diaby’s signature.

Last season, Diaby scored 14 goals and collected 11 assists in all competitions for the Werkself. His performances would inspire Leverkusen to a Europa League semi-final, as well as help guide the side up the Bundesliga table after a  disappointing start to the campaign.

With the arrival of Jonas Hofmann, Alonso may have found a player that could take the place of Diaby if he were to leave. However, it has been reported by Stefan Bienkowski that Hofmann was not signed as Diaby’s future replacement.
