Schalke 04 still looking to offload Amine Harit before transfer window ends

Schalke 04 are still looking to offload midfielder Amine Harit (25), according to Bild. The Moroccan is one of the biggest earners at Schalke who reportedly nets up to €5.5m per year.

Currently on a two-year contract, the royal blues wish to remove Harit from their payroll and hopefully receive €10m in transfer funds. Last year, the 25-year-old was on loan at Marseille and featured on 23 occasions, scoring four times.

However, due to the high wages and desired transfer fee, many clubs have been put off purchasing the Moroccan international. In previous months, both Olympique Marseille and Galatasaray have both pulled out of potential offers due to this exact issue. This is proving a costly problem for Schalke who would like to free up their wage bill and re-invest into the squad.

Schalke’s sports director Rouven Schröder has suggested that a loan option may be the best choice for Harit who didn’t make a single appearance throughout July and August. Despite this, the midfielder still netted over €900k in wages.

Schalke have until next week to find a solution for both themselves and the unused player.
