Official | Borussia Dortmund sign Prince Aning

Borussia Dortmund have announced the signing of Dutch-Ghanaian left-back Prince Aning on a free transfer. The 18-year-old joins from Ajax and will feature for BVB U23s.

Aning played a total of 23 games for Ajax U18s and contributed two assists. He also made five appearances for the club in the UEFA Youth League group stage in the 2021/22 season.

The left-back, who turned 18 last week, was born to Ghanaian parents in Amsterdam which makes him eligible to represent Ghana in future despite playing for the Netherlands at youth level, with which he has been capped eight times for the U18s, scoring one goal and creating one.

Ajax has been a top source for ‘Die Schwarz-Gelben. As well as Ajax striker Sébastien Haller who completed his medical yesterday and is expected to be announced next week, centre-forward Julian Rijkhoff, who signed in 2021 from the Ajax youth academy for an impressive £120,000 to Borussia Dortmund is setting the BVB U19s alight, scoring 27 goals in 33 matches in 21/22.

Aning is the ninth signing for BVB’s second side ‘Die Amas,’ who play their games at BVB’s former ground, the 9999 capacity Stadion Rote Erde.

Ingo Preuß, sporting director of the BVB II team welcomed the signing in Reviersport: ” We have been negotiating to sign Prince for some time, he is an exceptional player with a strong left foot who will complement the team well.”

The other players new to the U23s are defenders Bjarne Pudel (SC Wiedenbrück), Valentino Vermeulen (FC Eindhoven) and Mario Šuver (1. FC Nürnberg), midfielders Can Özkan (Fortuna Düsseldorf II) and Falko Michel (VfB Stuttgart II), striker Michael Eberwein (Hallescher FC), winger Jayden Braaf (Manchester City) and goalkeepers Marcel Lotka (Hertha Berlin) and Niklas Lübcke (ETB SW Essen).
