Official | Ajax sign Brian Brobbey from RB Leipzig

Ajax have announced the signing of Brian Brobbey from RB Leipzig for an initial €16.35m which could rise a further €3m should parameters be met. The Dutchman has signed a five-year deal until 2027.

Prior to joining RB Leipzig from Ajax on a free transfer last summer, Brobbey scored six in 19 games before moving to Germany. The Dutch attacker failed to break into the first team under Jesse Marsch and Domenico Tedesco and was then loaned back to Ajax in January, where he scored seven in 13.

Ajax beat Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United to the signing of Brobbey. He had played 32 games across all competitions for Ten Hag, scoring 13 and creating three. A phone call had taken place between the pair but Brobbey had a desire to return to Ajax this summer.

Leipzig were also willing to allow Brobbey to leave given their attacking options.
