Manchester United could hijack Ajax’s move for RB Leipzig forward Brian Brobbey

Despite negotiations between Ajax and RB Leipzig for Brian Brobbey, Premier League side Manchester United have now entered the race to sign the Dutch attacker for a reported €15m, according to Bild.

A phone call between Manchester United’s new manager Erik ten Hag and Brobbey has reportedly taken place. The 20-year-old has a good relationship with his former coach at Ajax, scoring 13 and creating three in 32 games in all competitions and now Ten Hag could be set to hijack Ajax’s transfer of Brobbey.

Brobbey returned to training with RB Leipzig on Tuesday but has no desire to remain at the Bundesliga club and wants to leave. He had a preference to return to Ajax, where he’s spent the last six months on loan after joining Leipzig from the Eredivisie club last summer. But, playing under former manager Ten Hag at United makes for an interesting proposition for the young Dutchman.

Since joining Leipzig last summer on a free transfer from Ajax, Brobbey played just 234 minutes before returning to his former side on loan in January where he played 11 Eredivisie games, scoring seven and creating one.
