Niklas Süle and Karim Adeyemi available for Borussia Dortmund

Speaking in a press conference on Thursday, Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzić gave an update on the status of several first team players ahead of their Bundesliga game against Werder Bremen.

After picking up an injury against 1860 Munich in the DFB Pokal, Nikas Süle is yet to make his Bundesliga debut for Borussia Dortmund. “There’s a lot of good news,” said Terzić. “We can probably train with all players for the first time today. Niklas Süle and Karim Adeyemi will be there again.”

Should Süle return to the starting XI, one of Mats Hummels or Nico Schlotterbeck will take a place on the bench. After impressing against Freiburg last weekend, there could also be a start for Marius Wolf whilst Salih Özcan is also an option in central-midfield, although Jude Bellingham and Mahmoud Dahoud have impressed.

Anthony Modeste is expected to make his home debut. There’s also a possibility that one of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (18) or Youssoufa Moukoko starting after poor displays from Donyell Malen and Thorgan Hazard against Freiburg last weekend. After picking up an injury on his Bundesliga debut, Adeyemi is likely to start on the bench.

With an almost fully fit squad, Terzić added: “It’s the nuances that make the difference. When you have 26 outfield players in your squad, it’s impossible to be fair but we want to do it as honestly as possible.”
