Micky van de Ven intends to stay at Wolfsburg despite PSV interest

Speaking to Kicker after Friday’s training session, 21-year-old central-defender Micky van de Ven revealed his intention to remain at Wolfsburg despite interest from PSV Eindhoven.

“They follow what I’m doing in Wolfsburg. They saw that I didn’t play that much last year. There was a bit of contact but my plan is to stay and play in Wolfsburg,” said van de Ven.

Wolfsburg have so far received no request for van de Ven, who made it clear that he would like to remain at the Bundesliga club and fight for his spot after joining from Volendam last summer for a reported €3.5m.

The Dutch youth international played 189 minutes across five games last season for Wolfsburg and has three-years remaining on his current deal. He will compete alongside Maxence Lacroix and Sebastiaan Bornauw for a place in Niko Kovač’s defence. The Croat is also looking to strengthen his options in central-defence – Wolfsburg are in advanced negotiations with Empoli for Mattia Viti.
