Marco Reus may return for Borussia Dortmund against Union Berlin

Marco Reus (33) could return for Borussia Dortmund at the weekend after returning to training on Wednesday. Edin Terzic also gave an update on the general squad status of several players ahead of their Bundesliga game against leaders Union Berlin on Sunday.

“There are a few question marks,” said Terzic. “Thomas Meunier has a groin injury that has been causing him problems for a few weeks. However, the investigations show nothing dramatic. We hope that’s enough for Sunday. Anthony Modeste also felt something on his thigh and he’s struggling with gastrointestinal issues.

“Raphael Guerreiro got hit on the foot, it’s a little swollen but we are positive that he will be available. Marco Reus completed large parts of the training session on Wednesday. If everything continues to develop well, he’ll be ready for action again.”

Terzic discussed Reus in further detail, adding: “Marco was in outstanding form. He initiated and completed many actions. We’re happy that our captain will hopefully be available again on Sunday. He’s also very important in pressing. We’ve missed our captain over the past few weeks. Now let’s hope he stays fit.”

Reus suffered an ankle injury in Dortmund’s 1-0 win against Schalke last month.
