Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus ruled out for three to four weeks

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has given an update on the ankle injury sustained by Marco Reus in the 159th Revierderby against Schalke on Saturday.

“It was a shock for us all yesterday when we saw what happened. Today I can give a little bit of an all-clear,” Kehl told Sport1’s Doppelpass. “The medical tests we did on Saturday did not show a fracture. He has suffered an ankle ligament injury. Marco will be ruled out for three to four weeks and then hopefully be available again.”

Reus was substituted in the 32nd minute on a stretcher and replaced by Gio Reyna. Youssoufa Moukoko (17) scored the only goal of the game as BVB went top of the Bundesliga, capitalising on Bayern Munich’s defeat against Augsburg.

Called up to the German national squad by Hansi Flick for the upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Hungary and England, Reus is also expected to miss the games against FC Köln and Sevilla.
