Manuel Akanji to leave Borussia Dortmund?

Bild report tonight that all signs are pointing to a Manuel Akanji departure from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The 26-year-old defender will have 12 months remaining on his current deal at the end of the season but an improved proposal from BVB was rebuffed.

Akanji rejected Dortmund’s first contract offer that would have seen a salary increase of around €3m before the Bundesliga side made another effort to tie the Swiss central-defender down to a new deal.

With Akanji rejecting BVB’s latest approach, all signs now point to a departure in the summer to avoid losing out on a transfer fee.

Borussia Dortmund want a reported €30m for Akanji, with interest coming from Manchester United.

Per the report, BVB want to sign Nico Schlotterbeck (Freiburg) as a replacement.
