Lazio deny interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schulz

Contrary to reports, Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has denied rumours that the Serie A club are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund left-back Nico Schulz.

“Nico Schulz is not on my wish list. We have never spoken to each other,” Tare told Sport1.

Borussia Dortmund will allow Schulz to leave the club this summer with two-years remaining on his current deal. Sebastian Kehl would like to sell one of Schulz or Raphaël Guerreiro to raise transfer funds for Hoffenheim left-back David Raum.

Schulz (29) has failed to impress since his €25m move from Hoffenheim in 2019. He played just 832 minutes of Bundesliga football across 16 games last season and has played a combined 2,026 minutes in the league across his three seasons at BVB.

A problem that Borussia Dortmund face in their pursuit of Raum (24) is there doesn’t seem to be any interest in Schulz given his salary, whilst Guerreiro would prefer to remain at BVB as he enters the final year of his contract despite the club informing the Portugal international that they would be open to a sale this summer.
