Edinson Cavani to replace Sébastien Haller at Borussia Dortmund?

With initial contact already established, further talks between Edinson Cavani and Borussia Dortmund are planned, according to Bild. BVB are in the market to find a replacement for Sébastien Haller, who was diagnosed with a testicular tumour last month.

Cavani (35), who is available on a free transfer, has been offered to Borussia Dortmund, and is just one name amongst many that has been offered to the Bundesliga side as they seek a short-term replacement. Should the Uruguayan forward move to Germany, there’s a question mark over his €10m salary and whether BVB would be willing to pay such a fee after investing around €86m in transfers this summer.

Although no decision has yet been reached, BVB are expected to sign a Haller replacement in the next two weeks. However, they have a preference to sign a player to a one-year contract, either on loan or a free transfer. FC Köln striker Anthony Modeste (34) has also been offered to Borussia Dortmund, the Frenchman could also imagine a move.

Cavani has spent the last two years at Manchester United, scoring 19 and creating seven in 59 game across all competitions. The Uruguayan also had an incredible goalscoring return at PSG and Napoli.
