Borussia Mönchengladbach beat Bayern Munich to sign Swiss talent Winsley Boteli

Borussia Mönchengladbach have beaten Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Freiburg to the signing of Winsley Boteli from Swiss club Servette FC, according to Rheinische Post.

Boteli (15) turns 16 on July 5 and will join Gladbach’s famous boarding school that sees their youth products live within the Borussia-Park after an agreement was reached between all parties.

The Swiss forward will be Die Fohlen’s second transfer this summer after signing Oscar Fraulo (18) from FC Midtjylland.

After the sacking of Adi Hütter and departure of Max Eberl as sporting director, Borussia Mönchengladbach are currently undergoing a rebuild phase.

33-year-old goalkeeper Yann Sommer has reached an agreement to join Nice, whilst the Ligue 1 side, coached by Lucien Favre, are also targeting Marcus Thuram and Alassane Pléa, both of whom are entering the final year of their contracts.

Gladbach are also seeking defensive arrivals following the departure of Matthias Ginter to Freiburg. The Bundesliga side are working on signing Manchester City’s Ko Itakura.
