Borussia Dortmund plan to offer Jude Bellingham increased salary

BILD report tonight that Borussia Dortmund officials are thinking about increasing the salary of Jude Bellingham (19) in the near future by a further €3m.

The Englishman had his contract automatically extended by a further three years until 2025 on his 18th birthday. Bellingham currently earns around €3.5m but is an integral member of the squad and has been appointed on BVB’s team council alongside Marco Reus, Mats Hummels, Emre Can and Niklas Süle.

BVB hope that an increased salary will keep Bellingham at the club beyond 2023 after the 15-time England international aroused interest from Europe’s top clubs, including Real Madrid and Liverpool.

Speaking recently on Sky90, BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl said: “There’s certainly a lot of interest but I hope that Jude will stay with us beyond 2023. (…) But we have to accept that there will come a point at which the boys will move on.”

Bellingham has played 360 minutes in the Bundesliga for Borussia Dortmund this season, and has represented the Signal Iduna Park club 95 times following his arrival from Birmingham City in 2020.
