Benjamin Henrichs replaces injured Marco Reus in Germany squad

RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Henrichs (25) has replaced Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus (33) in the Germany squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League games against Hungary and England after the latter suffered an ankle injury in the Revierderby against Schalke on Saturday afternoon.

“It’s a shame that Marco is out because he’s an important player for us,” said Flick. “We wish him a speedy recovery and that he can take part in the World Cup.”

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl confirmed on Sunday morning that Reus is expected to miss around three to four weeks, but that the German’s injury isn’t as bad as first feared. Kehl stated that further medical tests confirmed that Reus suffered an ankle ligament injury, and not a fracture.

Reus was stretchered off after 32 minutes in BVB’s 1-0 win against Schalke. Introduced in the 64th minute, Youssoufa Moukoko (17) scored 14 minutes later, giving Edin Terzić’s side an important victory as Bayern Munich suffered a 1-0 defeat at Augsburg.
