Dan-Axel Zagadou set for Stuttgart medical

Former Borussia Dortmund central-defender Dan-Axel Zagadou is expected to undergo a medical with Stuttgart on Monday after reaching an agreement, according to Bild.

Sporting director Sven Mislintat brought Zagadou to Germany during his time at Borussia Dortmund. The 23-year-old spent five years at BVB and has been without a club since the end of the season after his contract expired. Now Mislintat is expected to sign the French defender for Stuttgart.

West Ham United, Hoffenheim, Milan and Inter had all shown interest in signing Zagadou, who played 92 games across all competitions for BVB, but Stuttgart have now pushed to sign the Frenchman following a poor start to their campaign. VfB remain one of two teams without a Bundesliga win this season.

Zagadou shouldn’t have problem settling into the Stuttgart squad with compariots Naouirou Ahamada (20), Enzo Millot (20), Tanguy Coulibaly (21) and Serhou Guirassy (26) at the club – Silas, who was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, also moved to France as a teenager.
