Bayern Munich interested in Marcus Thuram as Harry Kane alternative

As they search for a new number nine, Bayern Munich have shown interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram. As reported by Sport1, Markus Pilawa, Bayern’s chief scout, watched the Frenchman on Sunday at the recent Rheinderby against 1. FC Köln.

Although Bayern still have their eyes set on Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur, the arrival of Kane would be very expensive when it comes to the transfer fee and his salary on top. The Bavarians have also been linked with the likes of Dusan Vlahovic (Juventus) and Lautaro Martinez (Inter Milan) as other options but if they are to sign a striker from the Bundesliga, Thuram is their main target.

Thuram (25) has been linked for the past two years with a move away from Borussia Park with Inter Milan seeming like the most likely destinations but the move never materialised. More importantly, Thuram’s contract expires in June 2023, which means Bayern could potentially sign him on a free transfer.

This season Thuram has eight goals and three assists for Die Fohlen including a goal against Bayern Munich in their 1-1 draw earlier on in the season.
