Bayern Munich face competition from Bayer Leverkusen for Stefan Ortega

Sky Germany report that Bayern Munich face competition from Bayer Leverkusen for the transfer of 29-year-old Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.

Ortega is free to leave Arminia on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season and discussions with Bayer Leverkusen have already taken place.

However, similar to the situation at Bayern Munich, Ortega joining B04 wouldn’t guarantee the No. 1 jersey. Where he would have to compete with Manuel Neuer, the German would also have to compete with Lukas Hradecky for at least one year, the Finland international’s contract in Leverkusen expires in 2023 and it’s unclear as to whether an extension will be signed.

A decision on his future is yet to be made whilst it’s also suggested that Arminia have also offered a new contract.
