Lucien Favre: “It was a catastrophe.”

Speaking after Borussia Dortmund’s 5-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart, BVB head coach Lucien Favre admitted that their fourth Bundesliga defeat of the season was a catastrophe.

Silas Wamangituka gave the visitors a 1-0 lead at the Westfalenstadion from the spot midway through the first half from the penalty spot before 18-year-old Gio Reyna equalised for Favre’s side.

Stuttgart then took the lead again though Wamangituka just six minutes after the break before goals from Philipp Förster, Tanguy Coulibaly and Nicolás González in a 30 minute spell gave Pellegrino Matarazzo’s an astonishing 5-1 win.

Favre visibly unhappy with Borussia Dortmund’s performance: “It was a catastrophe.. too many big, big mistakes. We we very bad, it’s unacceptable.”

BVB are now three wins without a win in the Bundesliga and are five points behind current leaders RB Leipzig whilst serious questions regarding the future of Favre will be asked – many fans suggesting that his time at the Bundesliga side should be over.
